Developing a Servant Heart
The Student Ministries of FBC wants to develop a servant heart in each of our students. We want our students to love to serve because of Salvation, not for Salvation (James 2:14-17, Ephesians 2:8-9).
We believe that Christ loves and blesses those who serve Him here on earth and it is commanded in the Bible for all believers to serve (James 2:17, Matthew 25:40). Because of this we have several opportunities throughout the year for our students to serve both the church and the community.
In the church, we help out at the AWANA Fun Fair, Vacation Bible School, Essence of Christmas, and at times during Sunday Worship.
In Oskaloosa, we serve at New Hope, and Mahaska Outreach. We help flood victims and families in need (also in Ottumwa). We also do street evangelism. In Des Moines, we help out at Hope Ministries and Meals from the Heartland. In addition, we serve at Hidden Acres of Dayton, IA and at Child Evangelism Fellowship in Warrenton, MO.
