Biography

Eileen was born and raised in rural
New Sharon, Iowa, attended Lacey School and graduated from New Sharon High School. Upon graduating from A.I.B., she worked for the Department of Social Welfare for two years.

Eileen and her husband Ken were married in 1955. They have four daughters, eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. While the children were young, she did office work and child care in their home.
After working at William Penn College/University for 23 years, she retired in 2000. Upon retirement, she began volunteer work in the office at Fellowship Bible Church until she was hired as a part-time ministry assistant
in 2004.

She feels there are many benefits to working at FBC, as in many ways it’s
like working at a college. She says: “Teachers are always teaching. They don’t have to be in the classroom.
A person can always learn something. The pastors and Charlotte are teachers and whether they know it or not, they are teaching each of us about grace, love, compassion, and the Word.”

Part of Eileen’s work involves transcribing sermons or messages, as well as any other typing. Her work also includes preparation for communion, music for the Sunday morning services, ladies Bible studies, baptisms, duplicating CD messages, and mailing the FBC newsletter. She works with many different people on these tasks and mentions that all of this adds up to a great working environment.

Things that she likes to do for fun include putting picture puzzles together, doing word searches, reading, stamp collecting and crocheting.
